Jay Electronica is the hardest working emcee in America. There I said it. I am now officially on the Jay Electronica bandwagon.

Every song is something totally unique. Every song is a another heart beat for hip hop. Every song is proof that this MC knows how to rap and will kill your favorite rapper.

Jay Electronica may not get Lil Weezy sales, but he is the hardest working rapper out there. No doubt. Finito. It’s over.

Oh, and I’m definitely going to buy this shirt.

Saw this on prollyisnotprobably, a couple days of ago. The CW&T Blockhead Steam is a nice little addition to any bike, fixed gear mostly. I’ve been trying to save a few here and there, but I think this stem is just to good to pass up. Probably wait a few more paychecks to cop, but I definitely want this on my bike. I just love how simple the industrial design is. Plus the added benefit of having a integrated brake lever is icing on the cake.

So the internet has been set on fire by the possibility of an Apple Tablet. Dubbed the “iSlate”, because of domain registration by the Cupertino company, the as of this moment publicly unseen product will be something. Rumors are saying the product will be feature everything from the mouth watering front facing camera for iChat sessions to more than unnecessary multi-touch on the back of the unit. The rumors are almost always never fulfilled, but I hope that more than one of the rumors are fulfilled by the company.

My 2 cents says it will be a “Life Device”. It won’t be a full fledged computer. For obvious technical reasons. It will be a mini computer that can go with you anywhere. Think of it as a mix of the geographic computing freedom that a netbook provides and the form factor and information potential that a kindle or e-book possesses. An iPhone is a suffice solution but the screen really hinders the iPhone potential compared to what a tablet, or “iSlate”, would provide.

What do I mean by “Life Device”? The iPhone is a good example. Before the prevalent days of smart phones, which hasn’t really been that long, gathering and pulling information to you would consist of sitting in front of a bulky desktop computer or, to the more mobile minded user, a laptop tethered to either a Ethernet cord or a wife connection. A great solution that calls for the days that people sat in front of a television to wait for their favorite show to turn on or get their news.

Smart phones, and the iPhone, more specifically gave people the ability to do things when and where they want to. No longer powering the device; the device empowered you. You could take pictures and video and send them out to all your friends. Find a restaurant and set a dinner time through text message. Play games without actually being in their near vicinity. Settle friendly conversations about who was the starting point guard for the LA Clippers in the ’92 season. All of this things encompass what a “Life Device” means to me.

The iPhone does those things well, but the iPhone is just a small screen factor phone. It will never be 8 or 10 inches as this “iSlate” is suppose to be. Imagine being able to take great quality photos and videos and edit them as soon as you are done filming without fumbling on a roughly 3 inch screen. Or being able to read a book as it’s meant to be in landscape mode or a magazine in the more format friendly vertical mode. How about playing 3D game experience comparable to what a Nintendo DSi or a PSP offers. The possibilities are endless.

As a fan of Apple and the things that they have produced for the last 10 years, I will be more than glad that they are releasing something for the new decade. The company always amazes us with innovative products that don’t create markets, but revolutionize them. Whatever they put up don’t be surprise to see hundreds, if not thousands, of customers lining up. You never know, in one year will be looking back and saying what else do they have in store for the next decade.

The thing about a fixed gear bike is that you have to use toe clips in order to secure your feet to your pedals. I hate toe clips. They are not meant for big footed people, at least the ones that came with my bike. I decided to take them out and needless to say it wasn’t fun. Pedaling was a bitch. I exerted too much force pushing down and keeping my feet on the pedal.

So I decided to purchase this product called Feetbelts. For $20, plus $6 shipping, I received a set of belts made from recycled seat belts. They get a bunch of belts from damaged cars at the junkyard, they do their magic, and you get a great product! Ha, I love this thing. It’s made my rides very fun and much more comfortable.

Sade – Diamond Life & The Chamber Brothers – The Time Has Come

I was pleasantly surprised to see the Marvin Gaye record in the dollar bucket. Equally surprised with the Stevie Wonder record. Two classic albums that added to the evolution of music.

Sade is a beautiful woman and a fucking amazing singer. She sings such a great amount of emotion in her music that I have to stop and just listen to her music.

The Chambers Brothers is a great pick up, as well. The band is probably best known for the song “The Time Has Come Today” and it is definitely one of the songs that defined the 60s. I used to listen to that song when I was young.

When I was young, around junior high age, I was really into 60′s pop music. Something about the generation of music attracted me to it and I wanted to find anything and everything that I could listen to. This is one of those songs. I didn’t know much about who the band was and I even thought a white guy sang the song. Wow.

It’s nice how everything comes full circle like that.
